THE EVOLUTION OF FIGFI LINK

 

The people at FIGFI have designed more than 75 different sensor products, resulting in sales of over 20 million units. Nearly all have been connected wirelessly across sectors including Smart Homes, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, trackers, air quality monitors, sewer maintenance, gas infrastructure, Smart Street Lighting, industrial monitoring and control, agriculture, railways, office lighting, and drones.

 

This knowledge has enabled us to understand the strengths and weaknesses of existing wireless transmission systems, including but not limited to Bluetooth Mesh, Zigbee, Z-wave, ANT+, Thread, BLE, LoRa & LoRaWAN, Sigfox, Mioty, Wi-Fi, Wi-SUN, Matter, Amazon Sidewalk, and many cellular protocols. In the event of emergencies such as fire, flooding, and earthquakes, it has become the accepted "norm" that mains power, cellular phone networks, and SMS text might fail, resulting in the loss of internet, Wi-Fi, and cloud access. This is unacceptable for alarm, life-critical, and network infrastructure products, and this led to the development of FIGFI LINK.

THE PROTOCOL

Today's trend is to build faster, more complex wireless mesh networks that send large volumes of data to create a Smart World. Frequently, these networks rely on a connection to a local Wi-Fi network, with clients often incurring monthly subscription charges. When the Wi-Fi drops out, which we all experience, communications are lost, and cloud-based data is not accessible.
 

The FIGFI LINK autonomous mesh is Edge AI-enabled, with a 20-year battery life, and has been born out of experience. It is optimised for applications with up to 100 nodes and can securely send and receive low-to-medium data payloads over ranges of up to 20km, with fast response times. Customisation is possible.

Whilst the specifications are exacting, our modules are very low-cost at volume through experienced design and engineering, and fully automated production line testing and calibration.

HARDWARE & RF MODULES

The customer can be responsible for their own FIGFI LINK hardware implementation, or FIGFI can assist with a chip-down design, or provide fully functioning, certified modules.
All our modules have exacting specifications, many of which are unlikely to be found in competitor products, including:

  • Category 1 receiver for life-critical applications

  • 110- 970MHz, single or dual channels per module

  • Optional 2.4GHz for BLE connectivity

  • -40 to +8S°C operation, with options to +125°C

  • Up to +20dBm transmit power

  • Exceptionally low operational leakage currents

  • OTA firmware updates to the mesh and sensors

  • Low ageing TCXO, and Real Time Clock

  • Robust against interference and noise

  • Vertical, horizontal, and dual mounting options

  • Pre-certified, worldwide approvals

  • Cyber secure, anti-cloning​
